After all this brouhaha, I know now why I am not a parent. Good heavens, if I was I would not let the child out of my sight until s/he was 35 and in full body armor.

All of us had a real nice afternoon nap and it was too late to call the Vet back.

I have not tested Roy today and I'd really like to give him the day off. He has not had any insulin today either. I am so gosh darn leery of that stuff now...

Roy had a nice supper (1/2 Can of FF). All 4 of my kids then went out in the garden and Roy tried to nab a butterfly and ended up smack dab in the middle of my Marigolds. Roy seems active and alert, although he (as well as my other cats) are puzzled as to why the munch bowl of dry kibble is no longer available at the feeding station.

I would like to know if I should test him. (I am sorta/kinda beginning to know what *signs* to look for if he is not feeling well.)

I was reading the post by Kay regarding the lancet issue and I am wondering if perhaps the lancets I use are too small. Moreover, Roy does not like the clicking noise. Oh gosh.

My Vet mentioned that perhaps my Glucose meter is not giving correct readings. IDK about this, cos last nite when I was testing him, both times gave me the 2.1 reading. And, after the food/honey go round, it is little wonder that his # was good when we got to the ER. Is it possible that my brand new almost top of the line meter is out of whack?

I sure wish I had a meter that did American. It would make things so much easier when I communicate with most of you. Math is NOT my forte and Sue drags out her calculator. I thank God for that woman! Seriously, if you are ever in a cat crisis, she is great to have on the other end of the phone, cool as a cucumber.

BJM, if you could PM me w/ your email addy, I'd be obliged.

Carl, I am moving in with a sorority sister from uni on Wednesday. She has 2 well-behaved wee dogs, a huge house and garden plus 2 cats. More fun. The best thing about it is that my soon to be housemate is a Pharmacist and she understands all this glucose yada yada. My current house mate is an ass.

As an aside, and an importantone, a certain Vet here in Windsor highly recommended this site to me yesterday. (Sue you ARE right).

Speaking of Vets, the ER Vet last night says when he has to prick the cats ears, he puts a roll of tape (the white cloth kind) behind the cat's ear. He says it works for him.

Kindest regards,
Cheryl

I am glad to hear things are going a little smoother, Cheryl.

If you are not sure about your meter, try it on yourself. If you get a reasonable number, it should be working. Did the instructions say anything about calibrating it? The meter has been giving you logical numbers, though. Even the 2 last night makes sense with one unit given under 11 when the number was going down.

Yes, I would get a number tonight just to see how Roy is doing.

Sounds like you're getting the hang of this -- Great! and sounds like your ER vet is a keeper too. Does he/she have "regular" office hours?

Would you still like me to come over on Saturday?
