Just wanted to stop by since it's been a while and I've been meaning to get back here. I've only checked his numbers a couple of times but they were fine and he has no physical symptoms, so that's good. He did jump off the bed Monday night and has a limp now. I'm watching him for a couple of days because I just can't afford a vet bill now. He has to be put to sleep for them to even touch him. I took a video of him limping to show vet if we need to go but I'm sure they'll want to do xray or something since he's older.

Might be a simple strain. Have you a place without jumping points where he could be confined? Cage rest is what some vets may recommend with strain type injuries as rest may help it recover.

Could be arthritis if he is an older get and jumping just aggravates it. May want to consider putting him on Cosequin. Mine has been taking it since Friday and Ive seen a improvement already.

Thanks guys. He seems okay besides the limping.

@BJM - He's pretty old and I don't think he needs to be confined. He mostly spends his days sleeping in the sun anyway.
@terriy - I thought about arthritis, but this came on really suddenly. I'm home all day and he was fine. He jumped off the bed and that's when it started.

He's pretty old
Niki, he's a teenager, not old. My one diabetic was 13 1/2 when dx'd and she went on for another 5 1/2 years. I just last Oct. adopted a diabetic and she was 17 last May and is doing beautifully. You'd never know she was 17. Many of us have had kitties live into their 20's. I hope Rocky feels better in a few days and he just sprained it a little.

Rocky is much better today. I noticed last night that the limp was almost gone. He's moving slow maybe like when your leg falls asleep and you try to get the circulation going again, but not a limp anymore. He's back to jumping on the couch which he did that even when he was limping. Haven't tried the bed again, but now I'm scared for him. I might invest in some of those pet steps.

I happy to here that Rocky is on the mend! I purchased pet steps and I cant get anybody to use them. Not the drooler or CL! I've had them for over a year now.
I think my critters are to old and set in their ways!! :RAHCAT Very happy for Rocky!

I purchased a 2 step set and a 3 step set for my older ones to be able to get onto the bed and onto the kitchen counter. They could get to the counter from back of sofa to a stool but I was afraid they'd fall. No problem whatsoever with using them.......they were grateful I made it so easy for them :-D Glad to know Rocky is better. The steps were carpeted ones.
