We have a diagnosis for Rocky : FIC (Feline Idiopathic Cystitis) which comes under general umbrella name of FLUTD. His urinary tests came back perfect.
Hid BG is a little bit up and down: this AM was 10.7 and at +4 was 4.9. This tells me that when he is in pain due to spasm and difficult urination his BG goes higher and if it is so much lower after his meds it means that his pancreas is working.
His treatment is painkillers and anti-inflammatories (Metacam - I know about potential problems but after discussing it with my vet's I agreed to a short course), antispasmodics and Cytstophan and some green lipped mussel extract.
I make sure he has a lot of water in his raw home-made food and I cook chicken broth for him to drink between meals which he really likes.
On top of that I started doing T-Touch massage which helps to relax poor kitty and he loves it.
I have a really good vet, we are thinking now about doing acupuncture and laser treatment for arthritis.
I can't afford it for myself but Rocky gets it as we have a very good insurance for him!
Let's hope that his diabetes is in remission and that we can deal with FIC so he doesn't suffer as it is very painful.
If any of you can think about anything else I can do to help Rocky to be in best of health please feel free to share your ideas.
Wishing everybody and their kitties good health and thank you for being for us.
