So the 4.50/5.00 no matter what experiment is going pretty well getting some blues but still ending up on both ends in mid to high 300's - this might just be where we are as my summer is so hectic I can't be juggling worrying about hypo's etc. Yesterday at +7 he was 137 today at +5 he's 151. His constipation is a BIT better but still a concern and his allergies are clearing up- took him off the antihistimine because I was personally concerned it contributed to his major poop issue last weekend - so considering later this week putting him back on half the dose he was on after talking to our vet.

Check out his SS if you can and let me know what you all think.

I think it's looking good, Ellen. He is bouncing back at preshots but those numbers seem lower overall. With all his other issues, I know it is hard.

Sue - what would you say to a reduction to 4.0 no matter what? I'd love to avoid this bounce. Personally I really feel he has very different reactions during the day and night - but I have to focus on why I feel that a bit by studying his numbers some.

It is such a guessing game, the bouncing stuff. If he is bouncing, the theory is that his body should eventually adjust to those blues and even out. Some kitties like Cassie do that in the next cycle, some take months.

It could also be that the insulin just isn't lasting the full 12 hours, that it brings him down into decent numbers and then wears off about +10. It works that way in some cats.

I have to say I like the numbers you've gotten at 4.5 and even 5......

I guess, once you get the other issues settled, and if he is still throwing these patterns of high preshots, you might want to consider TID (have no idea if that will work with your life) or another insulin. You might watch Denise and Shakes over on Levimir. He was continually bouncing on PZI and preshots were high. She switched and is working her way back up in dose. I haven't looked lately to see how he is doing.

I think the insulin just quits on him after about 10- 10.5 hours - just DONE. I guess we can switch to levimar - but damn it feels like starting all over - I can't face that during the summer with 60+ hour work weeks and insanity in general
