Feel like it's been ages - but probably only 10 days or so - just SO behind in updating the SS that I can't even FACE Sue on here LOL Actually the 14 hour work days 6 days a week are starting to get in my way...

Robbie is still on Prozinc, still around 5+/- u's a shot we've moved from 5:30 to 7:30 time slots so when I go away someone can feasibly come by and give him his shot. I STILL do not have someone who will TEST him first. I'm a NERVOUS wreck about that. He's been VERY consistent as long as his food stays the same and we do exactly 12 hours and exactly 5U's that he's in the mid to high 300's at shot time - BUT if he decides NOT to eat a lot or (and this is killing me) POOPS something noteworthy before shot time his numbers don't go as high - so maybe mid 200's . Which I'm fine with ME shooting 5 into but not someone else.
My thoughts are to just put him on 4.0 units BID - and pray - tell the sitter to watch him for acting lethargic or something??? Thoughts?

I THINK my closest friend will be staying at the house so she'll be there with him but she's a chicken about shots and stuff and isn't even sure she will be able to give him the shots so another friend will come over, shoot him and leave. It's so darn complicated.

Aside from all this Robbie has seemed pretty good. He's pooping much more regularly and seems happy and content for the most part.

Sounds like a crazy schedule, some good friends and GREAT news about the poop! I keep telling myself "things will get back to 'normal' soon" - but then I conclude that this IS normal!

Wishing you some peace and sanity - and a well-behaved cat! ;-)

Hi Ellen,
When he doesn't eat well, and you get 200's, have you been giving the 5u doses? If so, how low does he go on 5?
You could have the friend who is going to be there (but isn't good with giving shots) create an account here, so she could post in an emergency. For that matter, we could try to convince her that she can learn how to test.... I've seen many people post here for the first time completely convinced they can never do the pokes or the shots, and I don't think I've seen one who wasn't eventually convinced once they are "shown" how to do it...

Ellen,

So glad to hear robbie's bowels are regular. I'm sure that is a relief for both of you. Sounds like he is doing good!

Hi gang
Might have spoken too soon - Robbie's been a bit off with the liter box again but not critical yet (only takes a few days for it all to change) - he ate a good piece of a plastic bag all chewed up (common for him) and I think that might be the culprit.

Sadly the friend who's staying at the house is NOT a computer person - so I don't know that I can get her to come on here at all. I'll see. When he's been in the mid 200's I've waited a bit and typically he's just eaten so he gets up to high 200's low 300's and I do shoot a "soft" 5.00. My goal is to get his recent numbers on his spread sheet so you guys can maybe take a peak and see what I'm dealing with before I leave.

Again, my fall back position is just shooting 4 am/pm. He'd be safe, he'd be in higher numbers but safe. It would only be for Saturday night, Sun,Mon,Tue and Wed am, so basically 4 days. I did show her how to test and shoot last night and she was NOT comfortable with the testing (of course he shook his head and I missed the sweet spot on his ear and got a HUGE thing of blood) but was FINE with the shot (he doesn't even slow down his eating when I shoot him). So that's one part down - now there is the second person who gets home tomorrow and her cat requires all sorts of meds and yucky treatments so she might be more inclined to test but she'll only be the morning person. Sigh... we'll see how it goes.
