Risky.....

Let's see as of noon today....he is only eating tuna/water, the Wellness packs of Tuna wet food, the freeze dried chicken dog treats (HE LOVES THEM) and Blue Wilderness 100% grain free, High Protein Kitten food (it is dry and he has only eaten a small amount of this). I am not giving him anything else to eat other than those listed above. I am just at such a loss.... I don't know how to give sub-q but Kim lives near and has offered to help and show me how. I am checking ketones daily and as of 7:00 p.m. they were still negative. I am still giving 1.5 tablets of Batril daily. I will check his bg again shortly and post on his SS.... he is due for another shot of insulin......

No news yesterday...
Hoping all is well!

Risky is still running too high irregardless of what Martha tries. He is eating Wellness canned food and tuna and there has been no change in his BG. She has given him some R with little effect. Today she picked up his curves and fructosamine test results from the vet and we are going to review them and see if there was any positive moment on the doses between 2.5 and 8. It is a little overwhelming at the present time, but she is testing and trying everything possible to get his numbers down. Yesterday, she even shot at +10---but no luck.

We might try to incorporate fluids into his regiment today.

Thanks for the concern. It is very daunting at the present time.

Wow. It is so frustrated when you have thrown everything in the mix and are getting no response. Have you looked at the symptoms for a high dose kitty to see if they match Risky at all?

I am so sorry to hear that Risky is not feeling any better
I will keep eveything crossed for better numbers soon!

Hope a good dose can be found for Risky soon.
He may need a little more time on the low carb wet before he starts coming down; with some cats it has an immediate impact, others more gradual; ECID.
Fluids probably will help.
Good luck!

Is he eating enough overall? You probably already know this, but I think that is the top-most important thing - even if it has to be dry.

Also, have you gotten some solid advice on how to use R? I don't know a lot about it, but just want to be sure you know what it's parameters are so you can use if effectively with no backfires.

Hang in there. It generally takes some time to get things under control, but it can certainly be done. You know he got some better numbers at the ER, so that gives me a lot of hope. If you haven't already, you might call them and find out how they were dosing the R and see if that gives you any insight.
