A little more than 1/2 way through her first 12-hr curve. Testing is getting easier.

I don't have any specific questions, but welcome any comments/observations/suggestions...

Hi Josie, Great job getting Ripley's curve! :-D Glad the testing is getting easier. One suggestion you may want to consider: some people note meal info on their sheet, particularly if they are feeding controlled meals. That helps beans and advisors relate food intake to bg numbers, also has helped some folks here see how to tweak their feeding to smooth out their kitties bg. You can look at some other spreadsheets to get ideas about what more you may want to record. I didnt detail food because we free feed the same single FF flavor all the time, just noted when we used HC gravy food to raise Jasper's numbers.

Welcoming you on board. Glad you are starting home testing. Its really easy. Sad that many vets are suggesting the putting down option before introducing how deal with diabetic pet, as its a really easy task. You will get used to it and become an expert by time knowing what your kitting needs. Water intake will not be an issue once you had her BG Under control.

Best of luck ;)

Way to go and welcome! It does get easier every time and easier for your cat. I don't know if you are doing this but it helps a lot to have a testing spot where your cat knows it is testing time. Also giving a lc treat after testing is always good.

Well done! Ripley is doing very well on Lantus and you are doing a great job with testing, feeding and shooting. We think our Zener has cerebellar hypoplasia and he has very poor balance too. Perhaps that's what's going on with Ripley? It is nice that he can't escape the backyard fence. :-D He does vigorously defend his territory!

Thank you, everyone, for your replies! I am so thankful to have found the FDMB!!!!!

I updated her SS to include some food/snack details. I tried to have a "special testing spot," but it seems to have added more stress & restraint. We're at the point now where I can test her wherever she's napping (usually one of two places); and today is the first day that I don't even have to restrain or hold her

I looked up cerebellar hypoplasia; sounds more severe than what I've seen in Ripley. I've always attributed her lack of balance to a shorter-than-avg tail.

Thank you for your welcome, encouragement, and advice!

Hey, Josie -

Just stopping by to say, "Hey!" Great job on getting a curve!

Have a great night -
