? Ringworm fungus tinea

i caught ringworm from a rescue i volunteer at. How avoid giving it to my cat?

Its only one spot under my arm. I dont care about me, i dont want my cat to get it. How do i prevent giving it to him? From what i've read it sounds impossible not to spread.

I called vet so see if there is a preeemptive treatment. The tech mentioned provendir (?) or advantage, which led into the most ridiculous conversation i've had in a long time. She was saying how it kills eggs, worms, etc. i said its not eggs, its not worms. Its fungus. 'Yes i know that' she said. But suggested i get some of that anyways. Makes no sense to me.

I would treat it with a fungicide and keep it covered to help prevent spreading it. Just practice good hygiene.
I would not volunteer until it is cleared up

Miconazole 2% cream for you applied twice a day for about 10 days, it also appears to be safe to use on cats, but check with the vet about side effect profile.

Keep it covered for sure. Be very diligent about hygiene. Alexi has already mentioned miconazole cream - I've never dealt with it in people, but I think there might be oral medication that can be used as well so you could check with your doctor. Anywhere you think might be contaminated, use a 1:10 bleach solution to clean and let it sit for 10 minutes before wiping it up (obviously make sure your cat is safely away from where you're using bleach and wear gloves). If there's something that might be contaminated that you can't use the bleach solution on, consider steam cleaning it. Ringworm spores do best in hot, humid environments so anything you can do to keep your environment dry and cool would help. Otherwise you could see about getting some lyme sulfur dip from your vet (or possibly the rescue?) and pre-emptively dipping your cat (fair warning - lyme dip stinks to high heaven, has to air dry, stains and will temporarily turn any white on your cat yellow).

I got ringworm from my sister, who got it from a stray cat and didn't warn me!
I was so scared Eleanor would get it. I used Lamisil on it and washed the area twice a day with soap and water, then applied apple cider vinegar, which is supposed to change the ph of the skin so the fungus can't grow. Let that dry then applied the Lamisil and covered with a bandage. I read that ringworm is not contagious after two days of treatment, but I kept a bandage on it for two weeks anyway.
I washed and cleaned and vacuumed like mad. I also wiped the cats down with apple cider vinegar twice a day. I read you can wash with that instead of bleach and it kills the spores and it is safe to wipe animals down with.
My spot cleared up and so far so good, no more ringworm.
