Richard Parker is the cat - my name is Pia (I'm his human.)

Richard Parker is my third diabetic cat, so the diagnosis last April was not life-changing. My first diabetic cat Mel died from a heart attack at 16 y.o. after 8 years with diabetes (2000). My second diabetic cat Sport died at 16 y.o. from kidney disease after 5 years with diabetes (2016). Sport also had bladder/stone issues, UTI issues, a PU at 5 y.o., lung cancer at 12 y.o., FLUTD, you name it. We used to call him the $21,000 Cat.

Richard Parker, however, unlike the first two cats, has Diabetic Neuropathy and THIS is LIFE-CHANGING. Two weeks ago he was jumping onto the night stand, and today he can't step into the litter box. The vet put him on Gabapentin and I put him on B-12 as soon as I figured out what was happening. The gabby knocks him out for hours, so hopefully the B-12 brings him (and me!) some relief. He was diagnosed with diabetes April 2018 and the last blood work he had done (last week) showed his BG under control. I should have noticed the diabetes earlier, having had two previous cases, since he was so thin. He does look fabulous now.

Jumping over to the regular forum to ask about strange urine leaking problem...
