It looks like I gave a bit too much food last night at +4. Rhubarb was ravenous and she followed me everywhere, so I was a sucker and gave her a full oz of mixed DM/Friskies 5%. Her +7 was the same as +4 so that may have been too much, but good to know in the future.

We got called to work today, but DH asked a coworker to go out with him so that I could stay home with Rhubarb today for monitoring/curve. I was planning on 6:30 shot time, but since he isn't used to having to do the things I normally do, I ended up delayed with shot. So her 0.25 U shot was 20 min after AMPS.

I just tested her urine with strips, no ketones, but glucose was still positive, at the 28 mmol colour. Shouldn't it be minimal or negative?

I will cross post this to main forum so those not on Lantus can benefit.

I should have done this earlier, with 0.25 being so difficult to be precise on.
I've attached 2 photos- blurry one is what I gave, clear one I did up just now to what I am trying for (0.25)

At this point, given what data I currently have, she hits her lowest point at +5 or +6.
I normally give her the remainder of her 2.5oz total morning food at this time. Am I safe to give her lowest carb, or switch it to the slightly higher lc?
I'm leaning towards giving her lowest carb, so that I know how low she goes on it

I will be testing her again in an hour- will be interesting to see what she is at.

I love her name!!!

Congrats on seeing that green! Be careful and watch closely - you're doing that already I see - Lantus is a depot drug and can build up in her system...so she could be in the lagoon for a while - or not - Luci likes to tease me - when she goes, she'll stay for a while...and then other times not...I actually never know what's she's going to do or when...maybe Rhubarb will be gentler on you mama bean :)

She's on the rise again. She either nadirs at +5, or +6 is only elevated from food. Maybe I should either free choice feed her morning amount, or feed spread out more. I had wanted to feed lc to avoid having the same drop between +5 and +6 as I did between the other tests.
She seems to have better appetite than usual. I may feed her another 0.5 oz at +8 just so she isn't going too long without food, unless that's not a good idea?

Nice greens today. Looks like she hit her nadir at +5 and is all ready back on the rise again which is typical in a lantus curve. As far as feeding again around +8, you'll have to experiment with that and see how it impacts her numbers. With some kitties if they are fed after +6 it is like putting the brakes on the insulin.

As much as she may want her supper earlier, looks like she will have to wait until pmps. She has been getting tiny chunks of beef for test treats, but those are minimal carbs. If she continues raising at this trend I will have no issues with pm shot.

Pmps 14 mmol, shot 708pm, 1.5 oz food given (friskies &pc chicken mix), with 1-1.5 oz remaining to give for night.

What is the best schedule for testing tonight to maximize both Rhubarb's safety and my sleep?

Looks like she is on the rise in bounce mode from those nice greens today. Not sure what time zone you are in, so 7:08 doesn't tell me how long ago that was.

So, Rhubarb ate 1.5 oz of food with her PM shoot and has another 1 -1.5 food to go tonight? How much does she weigh now? What is the total amount of food you give her a day? Just as a comparison, Bubba is about 17.5 lbs and he gets 4.8 oz /day to maintain that weight.

If you can get a test in around +2 to see how the cycle is going. If the +2 is the same or lower than the PMPS number then you might need to monitor some more. Otherwise, I would try and get a +5 as that is when she has been nadiring and let that number guide whether you need to test some more.

Just curious, did you give more food at +8?

I am in MST. It is 10 min to +1
She is about 9.2 lbs, and her cans say 5.5 oz/ 8 lbs cat. It is hit or miss whether she will eat 5oz a day. She has been more willing to eat more the last couple weeks, and so gets sometimes 6 oz, maybe slightly more if she steals the civvie's wet food (they only ever eat like a tsp a day ... it's going to be hard transitioning them, but that's another topic). Rhubarb's weight loss has slowed down thankfully- too fat before dx to too skinny.
She had no meals after +5, but she does always get a tiny piece of beef as a test treat. No larger than 1cm cube, usually half that. Why do you ask about +8 specifically?

too fat before dx to too skinny
Okay, I was going on the" obesity " in the signature . While trying to put weight back on, then don't be concerned about the amounts she eats. Just experiment with the placement of the food in regards to the time in her cycle. Experiment and see what works best with her keeping good records of what you feed and when.

Slow start to this cycle with a 14.6 (263). She was grazing though so maybe extended food bump?
Really hoping that it wasn't a fur shot. I have had great success with the roll method. This time she did squirm, but I didn't see any wet on the skin.
I'll test at +3 before bed and decide then if I should get up during night to check.

So Rhubarb is going down again, though nothing crazy.
I had a large enough drop on her so I tried my one touch ultra mini meter as well. It reads 16.6 mmol when the main one I use on her is 10.4 mmol. Given that her urine is highly positive for glucose even after all day in blue/green, I wonder about the validity of my usual meter.

I'll be back in a couple hours to do +5
