Retraining kitty to use litter box

Has anyone had any success in retraining their cat to use the litter box? Frost has just stopped using the litter box to pee in. He was tested and there is no UTI and he's not peeing all over the house.

I had to take up the carpet and padding in 2 areas of my house - the upstairs landing and the basement. I can't get anything fixed till I know he will use his litter box regularly, but at the same I can't leave my house is such disarray with the smell of pee assaulting the nose the minute you walk through the door

I've tried cleaning the areas with Rocco & Roxie Professional Strength Stain & Odor Eliminator - Enzyme-powered pet odor & stain remover for dog and cats urine. I even tried vinegar & water and straight vinegar, but he pees right over the cleaned areas again.

I'm at my wits end with what to do. Anyone have any success with retraining??

what if you put a small litter box in those two areas where he has peed (first of all try hitting those spots with "Nature's Miracle just for cats" separate formula from the one for dogs) and fill those litter boxes with lentils

either he will use them (and those are easy to dump) or he will refuse to pee there any more

(Catcat won't use the one I set up after he had an accident next to our commode)

can you figure out why he won't use his regular LB? does it need to be scrubbed out with vinegar and then rinsed thoroughly with water? or does it need chlorine bleach and rinsing, and to sit in the sun for a bit? or is it something other than smell that is putting him off?

I would suggest reading this article on Litter Boxes by Dr Lisa Pierson, and making/ getting a large box as per her description. Also maintaining it as she recommends.

Is the enzyme you used a concentrate you would dilute or did it say to use full strength? If it said to use full strength then I suggest getting an enzyme cleaner from someplace that sells janitorial supplies. Some of the vacuum distributor and repair shops in my area also sell janitorial supplies. The concentrate I use can be used full strength or can be diluted. The higher the dilution ratio the more concentrated it is. The one I use has a 1:32 ratio, 1 ounce cleaner to 32 ounces of water. For really strong odors you can use it full strength. The brand name on the one I use is Floor Pro but I think that is a private brand label since I can only find it in the vacuum store I buy it from. Also if you are using it on carpet, you have to soak it so it gets to the pad.

Your litter box looks fairly low but it's possible Frosty is having trouble getting in/out if he has leg weakness. I have read that peeing outside the litter box is common for newly diagnosed kitties, I am experiencing the same thing with mine. Once BG is under control they should go back to normal on their own. My cat is just recently improving but I keep lots of puppy pads down where she tends to go now. She likes using them to "cover" her pee/poop.
