Remission or needing doses?

Hi. my kitty is 14 and diabetic with kidney disease. He was on prozinc-1 unit twice daily. We had a hypo of 33 and have taken intermittant doses since. I havent given a dose in nearly a month. I do test glucose daily still. His numbers before eating are anywhere from 95-150 (alphatrak) Am I doing any harm not microdosing these 140-150's? My vet suggested not dosing at all until 225/250 but I usually do around 180. thoughts?

Without dosing, I would take a "preshot" and then take a BG about 5 hours after eating.
I would base need to dose both on "preshot" BG abut 5 hours after eatings. If the "+" 5 is higher than 150 or so I would dose a little
