? Remission/micro-dosing?

The vet thinks she's approaching remission, which fills me with joy. But the vet was also unaware that there were insulin needles with half-markers.

I know I need to get some more curves, but I think her numbers are looking pretty good. Should I be starting to taper off?

She's on Lantus and I'm using an AlphaTrak 2 to test. Eating Wellness chicken paté and combining Purina DM and Young Again Zero (which I've finally gotten her to eat, but it gives her diarrhea.) Unfortunately I haven't been able to transition her entirely to canned.

I can see you haven’t given any insulin for 4 doses and she is managing to stay in normal numbers.
However leading up to that she has had a rainbow of colours in the preshots with no mid cycle tests in at all.
Unless we can see what is happening during the cycle, we have no idea how she is reacting to the insulin.
Lantus is dosed on the nadir....or lowest point in the cycle.
Are you able to get at least one or two tests in every am and pm cycle for us please?

Yes I think you are probably getting close to remission so an extra effort to get more tests in now is very worth while.
You want to get a strong remission otherwise she will fall out of remission at some point, and to do this you need to continue the insulin for as long as possible.

When are you feeding the wet food, the Young again and the Purina dry food? That can affect the BGs.
We like cats heading to remission to reduce to 1/2 unit, 1/4 unit, 0.1 unit and a drop before going off insulin. This gives the pancreas a chance to heal as it is being supported.

However at the moment with Cocoa being in normal numbers with the Alphatrak meter, I would not give any insulin.
I am going to talk to a couple of people to see what is best doing moving forward with Cocoa to get her the strongest remission.
In the meantime, don’t give any insulin if she is too low, get those important tests in during the cycles and if you are not testing foe ketones, I would go out and buy a bottle of Ketostix from a pharmacy and check the urine for ketones.
