My kitty Leo who has been in remission from diabetes had to be taken to the ER last night due to ingesting one of my meds. He was there over night where they tried to induce vomiting and was given charcoal and fluids etc. While there his BG shot up to 245. Has anyone had a cat permanently come out of remission due to a stress induced emergency even though there is no infection etc.? I'm worried.

GA is our prefix for "Gone Ahead" or "Guardian Angel".....our hearts skip a beat when we see that because it means we've lost another member of our family here

Usually, if it's a one time crisis, they'll come back down once the crisis is over and they're back home again and relaxed, but you might want to resume testing once a day for a few days to make sure

Oh my - sorry for the wrong prefix. For some reason I was thinking it meant 'general advice.' I don't know how to delete it.
I'm sure hoping it goes back down once he's home and feeling more relaxed.

Go to your original post and you should see "Thread Tools".....there's a drop down menu that allows you to "edit" and change your subject line

Just choose "No prefix" instead

You're not alone thinking that's what it means!! We have that happen a lot....or people like me who thought "there are an awful lot of people from Georgia here!"

Nice advice from Chris on the thread fix.

For your kitteh, I wouldn't worry about an occasional spike. I agree with Chris to retest in a few more days. A vet visit can be traumatic to some kittehs.

My sugar cat is Leo too!
