Remission for a year, now peeing but BG 74-81

Marcus, our big orange guy, has been peeing inappropriately over the last week or so. At first we believed it to be that he was accidentally closed in a room. But now, we know that not to be the case as it has happened again. He seems to be drinking more water than normal, but his BG is anywhere between 74 and 81 lately. I had considered changing vets and had dragged my feet on calling and getting him in, but I need to now. Any other advice?

First of all... Marcus' face!!! SO CUTE!!

I think taking him into a vet will give you a better understanding of what's going on for sure. Ditto to Mandy & Rex RE: CKD.

For the inappropriate urination: Is there any chance that he could be having a hard time getting in and out of his litterbox due to his size? maybe getting a lower litterbox if this could be an issue? or adding a litter box?

I hope it's a simple problem with a simple solution. Good luck!

He goes in to the vet in the morning. Thanks to all of you for the advice, and I'll keep you posted. You are the best! It's good to know you're here when I need you. <3

Update on my Marcus. He has been off of insulin since March 2018--almost 2 years. We check his BG every couple months, or when he seems different for any reason. He had some peeing-outside-the-box issues last spring, but the vet checked him out--$200 later, it was determined it was behavioral--he was upset over something. We added another litterbox and the plug-ins to reduce stress, and gave him tons of extra positive attention, and he has been good since then. He and his 2 housemate cats pee a LOT, but at least it's in the letterboxes. He is 18 pounds, but still leaps with ease, up to counters, tables, and dressers. He eats only Friskies pate. With 3 cats, we split 2 cans by 3 at 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. and split a can at about 9 p.m. So between 3 cats--5 cans per day, and no dry food. Marcus drinks plenty of water. I am happy that this group exists. Just by being here, you have done so much to improve the quality of life for Marcus, and I'm sure tons of other cats. Thank you all!
