Remission after having diabetes for 8 years?! Is this a sign of something else?

Hi, My cat Ziggy has had diabetes for 8+ years and in the last couple of months, he has gradually started not needing as much insulin. He has now not needed any insulin for the last 4 months. He is a elderly cat (approaching 18 years old!) and i worry that this is a sign of something else. Does anyone have experience with this? I'm heading to the vet tomorrow because i have noticed he has lost a little weight, and i want to be armed with all the right questions to ask.

I know this is worrying but your best bet is for Ziggy to have a complete checkup and senior blood panel before thinking of the bad stuff. I'm sure that's what your vet will suggest.
