Some of you may already know about this but I was just at Walmart to get a new meter and the Relion Prime was a great deal. The strips are $9 for 50 or 18 cents each. Woo hoo! I've used the Relion Ultra before and it was very accurate. The sample size is 0.5 microliters which is the same as I had with my previous meter with the pricy strips but not as good as thd Relion Contour that only needs 0.3 microliters.

I'll test it out against my current One Touch meter which I know is accurate anx let you know how it compares

And of course Mary sends smoochies to everyone!

u know, i picked up a box of those strips last sunday just 'cause i couldn't believe the price. i figured they must be mispriced so i grabbed them just in case. i don't even have one of the meters yet. LOL!!!

the meter itself was nearly twice the price of the micro or confirm but still not bad at roughly $16 or $17 if i remember right

I paid $16 for the meter but the other Relion meters were $14 do it wasn't much more and the cheaper strips will pay for themselves in s few days :-D

Hello Lisa,
how is Mary doing? I see that we need to chip in more $$$ to clear her hospitalization bill off DCIN's books!

Glad to see the news about the new low cost ReliOn strips. It looks like I'm about to take over the care of my neighbor's diabetic kitty, Little One. Don't think my neighbor will see 95 again and it's getting too difficult for her to do many of the fine hand movements required in testing & injections... Years ago, I had a kitty also called Little One who adopted me, but took 8 months before she let me touch her! After that, we adored one another. Still miss her, so absolutely will do what's needed for the new Little One. Was hoping to use the balance of my supply of ProZinc (my Pudge is in remission) but with the shortage of PZ, will probably have to switch to Levemir.

Best wishes,
Sophie

oh really? down here in so cal the confirm and micro are $8.93 I think it was, or $9.83

Sophie, Mary is doing well but her blood glucose is still running higher than I'd like. I've been gradually increasing her insulin and am just starting switching to raw to see if that will help. Mary and her sister are great cats and I want to get Mary's diabetes under better control and hopefully that will help them get adopted.

DCIN are still fundraising to cover Mary's vet bills so if anyone would like to contribute you can get to the chip in through the link to her blog in my signature.

Mary sends smoochies to everyone!
