Red/pinkness around eye???

I just noticed that the skin under Jose's eye is pink. It's also slightly puffy. Does anyone know what this could be?

Could be an allergy.. Is he rubbing at it?

I haven't noticed any rubbing and he hasn't been sneezing at all lately. I'll keep an eye on it lol no pun intended how long do you think I should wait before taking him to the vet if it doesn't get better?

A day or two assuming it doesn't get worse. He could have just bumped it or something. Let us know how it is tomorrow.

So the pinkness below Jose's eye is still there but it doesn't look like it bothers him. He's still not rubbing at it and his actual eye looks fine. After looking at it more closely I think he may have scratched the skin below his eye while cleaning himself or something. I'm not too worried about it.

Keep an eye on it for infection. If it doesn't start to heal in a day or two I would still consider the vet..

I am going to keep watching it. Is it ok to apply an ointment like neosporin to prevent an infection?

He might groom it off and it isn't intended for oral consumption.

Plus, Neosporin isn't something you want to get in your cat's eye.

Ok thanks, I didn't use any neosporin. It was still pink today no differences. I'm going to call the vet tomorrow to try to get it looked at.

His eye cleared up quickly. It scabbed over and the scab fell off within a week. Thanks for checking in! I had posted the update on his eye when I posted in the ProZinc forum I thought I did here too I sorry.
