I haven't posted in ages, but am happy to see so many names I recognize still offering help
Snickers is still doing great--she will be 20 on June 30th! Nine years diabetic in August (she had 3 years of remission after the first six months of treatment), she receives .5 to 1 unit of BCP PZI every day or two depending on her readings. She doesn't get around quite as well as she used to, but she can still jump on the bed, and has no problem letting me know when she needs attention or dinner is not to her liking!
Our recent trouble has been with our big orange guy, Poochie. getting recurring UTIs about every four months. When he's sick he pees on our kitchen table, although he also does this when he's upset so sometimes it's hard to know what's going on. He is on a canned low-carb diet, and we give him low phosphorous food as well, plus some Cosequin.
DH will take him in for another check-up, but I haven't been happy that the vet's course of treatment has been Covenia (DH wasn't aware of the issues with it and so didn't say anything). Suggestions on what would be better for him?
Should we look into giving him D-Mannose?
Thanks in advance for any advice!
