Hi all,

recently, Galaxy has only been eating the jelly part of the food I give him. I want to try giving him gravy cos I know he likes that as well. Any recommendations? I myself am vegan so I wouldn't know if gravy made for humans would be suitable at all - dunno about ingredients. Has anyone got any advice on this? I had to stop giving him the expensive online-bought special wet food, because he just turns his nose up at it.

Edit to add: Of course I am aware that gravy or jelly might not have all the nutrients in it, I wouldn't be only giving him this.

human gravy or jelly usually has carbohydrates -- flour, cornstarch, rice flour, tapioca, etc -- that's what makes it "firmer" than juice

not quite what you want for your diabetic

the only non-carb thickener I can think of is unflavored gelatin ... which is not what your cats wants to eat either, though it is protein

Gravy made for humans has a base of flour, etc, which is carbohydrate and would not be suitable for a cat.

Since he likes the jelly you could stew skinless chicken and offer the broth. If you use chicken on the bone, slow cooked or pressure cooked chicken produces a thicker broth because of the natural gelatin in the joint cartilage and bone. No carbs and flavorful for a special kitty. Let the broth cool, skim off any residual fat, and you could freeze it in ice cube trays and thaw a cube or two to add to his low/no carb wet canned diet or on it's own.

Use the cooked chicken for yourself or offer it as a testing treat to Galaxy.
