I've been doing all the reading and changinging and everything I can and I am not so sure it isn't time to just put her out of her misery. Need some advice on how you know when to let them go. Here is a video I just took of her.

http://youtu.be/wSGlEL7wV7w

She looks so miserable. I have been carrying her to the litter box at least three times a day and was sitting working a few hours ago and she got up walked about 5 steps from her blanket and peed on the floor so I have now brought the box to her( a temp box just for her). A few minutes ago she climbed in it and sat for 15 minutes or so and then got out and lay down beside it. SHe is hardly moving any more. She is eating and drinking less sll the time and doesn't even mind the other cats chscking her out. I thin they are concerned as she would always growl and scare them away in the past. She is on 2 units Lantus 2x a day, zobaline, and low carb food. Any input would be greatly appreaciated.

Is she still interested in food or does she ignore it unless you feed it to her?
Does she have interest in things around her or does she turn away from things?
When a cat decides they've had enough and want to go is a sign to look for.

I am so sorry to hear about Samantha- I can hear your sniffles in the background. (((Hugs)))

hmjohnston,

Thanks for the response. She sort of acts hungry whe I feed her but gives up really easy. Haven't seen her drink much and now she is just laying with her head down sleeping. A week or so ago she would sit in front of the french doors and watch out the window but now she sits by the book case and so we gave her the pet blanket so she would be comfortable, SHe is feral and used to growl at the other 3 cats we have but now is pretty much indifferent to them and even lets Carly eat her food. It seems like she is not breathing to well either, kinda choppy and she I think purrs but not sure what it is and she has trouble walkint and when she gets in the litterbox it seems like it's to much trouble for her to get out!

I am so sorry you are going through this. How old is she? She looks like she might have something else going on like she is having a hard time breathing. Like she might have heart condition or something else. Has she been eating? Throwing up? Have you had her to the vet?

I'm so sorry that Samantha isn't doing well.

I think I would take her straight over to the Vet Clinic. It looks like her breathing is labored, when my civie was breathing like that it turned out to be her heart that was causing it, so what she is experiencing now might not be diabetes related, it could be a different health issue.

Good luck, Samantha is beautiful girl. She looks exactly like my civie Sophie.

Yea I agree I would take her to the vet as soon as possible she is having a very hard time breathing. I would go now before they close.

Terri

Thanks, she is 11 years old but never outside always a house cat!

Terri I will email him right now. They are open till 7 and it's not even 3 yet so I have time! It's just he is so afraid of her he'll want to sedate her and Dr. Wood would probably let me restrain her in a blanket but she iss not in till Wed!

I don`t think they will have to sedate her by the way she looks, she looks pretty sick to me and very passive right now. Best of luck to you. Please don`t wait, if need be take her to ER vet.

Terri

Just got back from the vet. We decided it was time so now Sammy is now in rainbow bridge with all the other beloved babies. She will be creamated and ashes poured at sea. I didn't want to bring her home. I have lots of photo's! Thanks everyone for your help!

I am so very sorry for your loss.
But please know that you have done a good thing in helping Samantha to the bridge. It was an act of kindness.
