Evening/morning all,

Toby has been doing ok, hes eating well, drinking well, being a very happy content boy, all good yes, but his BG is still so erratic. None more so than the last few cycles, after a number of days in the black/red I gave an increase to 2.25iu, he started to come down nicely but then has jumped radically at about 4 hours, also previously seen at lower dose, I've repeated the tests but they have stayed high until pmps. Hes had no contraband food, no stress, all normal, he just makes a huge BG leap literally from blue to black in 1.5hours.
Anybody able to offer any help or suggestions? Linda? @MrWorfMen's Mom

As always, thank you in advance. Kate x

Toby appears to be one very bouncy boy. I think what you are seeing today is a bounce. He dropped by 14+ mmol between AMPS and +4 which is a huge drop in a short period of time. Bouncing unfortunately is not something you can do anything to control other than to ride it out. As Toby gets more accustomed to being in better numbers, the bouncing should ease off. The problem is he seems to bounce back up very quickly and dramatically.

Given his reactions thus far, I am wondering if a change of insulin might be something to consider and what I would consider would be Lantus. I know you'd have to get your vet's approval but it looks to me like ProZinc may not be the best fit for Toby and the best insulin is the one that works for your kitty. I'd have a discussion with your vet about the possibility of switching. Lantus is a gentler longer lasting insulin and that might help get the numbers down and keep them down over a longer time frame. It won't stop the bouncing completely but might keep it a bit less dramatic.
