Hi everyone,

Just a quick question I am hoping someone is on,one to answer. I already posted this in my group but I came here incase someone else was online here and could answer.

I follow what I was told about the 12 hour between dosages. Though I was also told some people do 10 hours and when I was doing that I got all messed up...

Kolbie and I have been up since 2 AM and he has been grazing all morning and it is almost seven. We have been on a later schedule due to Kolbie not eating enough in the mornings so his shot has been in the 8-9 AM Range lately.

Does it have to be 12 hours or can he have it earlier? I have never been clear about this.

Thank you!

Good morning and it sounds like you've had a long night. Can you tell us what kind of insulin you are using?

Every 12 hours (+/- 1 hour is desired) A couple of years go because of my job on the weekends I did 8/16 hours for about a years. Not optimal but it worked.

My schedule can be eratic at times so I cannot always shoot 12/12. Sometimes it is later and sometimes earlier. I never shoot less than 10 hours from the previous shot but always test first to make sure it is safe to give it first.

Re: Quick question regarding the hours between insulin dosag

i'm glad you started this thread. Cedric has been back on lantus since late February and it looks like I might be going back to my 5am to 1:30pm shift at Walt Disney World on Sundays. I normally give him his shots at 6a/6p, but on Sunday he'll have to get a shot at 4am, when I leave for work. I am single, so there is no one else to give the shot. I try to move his shot time in 1/2 hr increments, starting tomorrow night, then Saturday morning then Saturday night and finally Sunday am. Not the greatest, but what else can I do?

While this week I took a day off (I normally work 7 days a week), next Saturday I am working until 4:45, getting home at 5:30 if I am lucky. I don't like the idea of giving him a shot at 5:30/5:45 pm and then 4 am the next day. My other alternative is to get the pet sitter to come late in the afternoon to give him his shot (checking his bg first, she's a vet tech at our vet's), dinner, scoop the boxes, etc. But that's $25 for 1 visit. Decisions.

What do you think?
