My non pregnant cat is nursing another females litter, she has not been pregnant. The trouble is tht her nipples are black but she is producing the milk can someone clue me in here

Was curious about your question, so did a little research and found this:

yes, a female who's never been pregnant can produce milk. I imagine just the act of these kittens nursing can cause the female cat to produce certain hormones that would in time, cause her to start lactating.
But, don't count on this to be the only food for the kittens, it will take time for the cat to start producing milk and the kittens need to eat in the mean time.
If these kittens are not old enough to be eating on their own, then you should be feeding them with a bottle and using a product called KMR (kitten milk replacer). Which you can find at pet stores. Do not feed cows milk or anything other than KMR, because anything else is not nutritionally complete.

Thanks. I have been looking and researching that as well, the thing is its not explaining why the tips of her nipples are black.... she has been lactating for awhile and the mother of these kittens is here with them as well.
The babies are almost 2 months old and they are eating hard food while nursing so they definitely are not lacking in nourishment.
I just find it rather perplexing about her boobs I have never ever seen the nipple tips of any living creature black. It is why I am trying to figure this out

Search engines are your friends. A vet visit may be in order. Try an internet search for breast inflammation when nursing and also mastitis - apparently black nipples can occur in humans as well as cats.

If you have time you may want to do some reading on this site--dry food can be a set up for diabetes :(
Maybe the kittens could eat wet food:cat:
