questions on syringes

I'm going to be needing syringes was wondering where other people buy them. I use BD insulin syringes with fine needle I'm paying 35.00 for a box of 100. IS there some place that is a little cheaper?

Hocks.com and AmericanDiabetesWholesale.com are two popular online places to buy insulin syringes from. You don't need a prescription to buy online.

Wal Mart sells the Relion brand of insulin syringes which many people here use. A prescription may be required in some states. Call your local Wal Mart and ask.

The BD brand is pretty expensive. There are lesser expensive brands you can buy that are just as good: Monoject, GNP, Ulticare, etc. These cost about $13 to $15 or so for a box of 100. At AmericanDiabetesWholesale.com you can buy a case (3 boxes, I think? So 300 total insulin syringes ) of some brands of insulin syringes for less than what buying 3 boxes together would be.
 
I live in Wisconsin and I believe I don't need a prescription for them. I will check with walmart. How are the needles are they thin fine like the BD's? Thank you everyone for your help on this.

All brands of insulin syringes come in various standard needle gauges and lengths. For 3/10 cc insulin syringes, the only combinations I am aware of are 30 gauge 5/16 inch, 30 gauge 1/2 inch, 31 gauge 5/16 inch, 29 gauge 1/2 inch.

The BD Ultrafine II 3/10cc insulin syringes are 31 gauge 5/16 inch. Similar products are the Monoject Ultrafine 3/10 cc 30 gauge 5/16 inch (half unit markings), Monoject Ultrafine 3/10 cc 31 guage 5/16 inch (half unit markings), SureComfort 3/10 cc 31 gauge 5/16 inch, SureComfort 3/10 cc 30 gauge 1/2 inch, UltiCare 3/10 cc 31 gauge 5/16 inch. And as mentioned above, the Relion 3/10 cc insulin syringes are available in 31 gauge.

The difference between a 30 and a 31 guage needle is pretty minute and most cats won't feel the difference. Some people do say that their cats can tell the difference and stick with the 31 gauge. Needle length is pretty much preference. It may be easier to use the 1/2 inch needles for cats with long fur.

Debbie, may i ask that you go to that last post where you put your address and click the word "edit" to the lower right of it. that will open it back up so you can remove your address. the health forum is wide open for anyone to see, including oddballs so personal info really shouldn't be posted out in the open.

you can pm it to lori by clicking "pm" to the lower left of her post. it will go to a page similar to what you see when posting to a thread, only when you click "submit" it will only go to her, via the board's private message system.

if you can't figure that out right away, i wrote it down and can give it to lori for you. i'm sure she could pm you and start that way
