Hi all Beast has been off insulin since 8/13 and she is doing great! I still test every few days usually before her AM meal just because I am paranoid. Today I did a random test 4 hours after her AM meal and her BG was 49. Is that ok? Shouldn't it be higher than that? She usually starts her day in the 50s.

She's great  Mocha gave us a few low numbers as well and we were told all is good . .So I'm passing that onto you :-D

Hi there.

From everything I've learned since Onyx started her OTJ trial 9 days ago, that 49 is BEAUTIFUL!!! Onyx has even had days in the 30's. You have to remember that with the meters we're using, they're calibrated to be around 30 LESS than what their true BG level is. Which means your kitty is 79.

Embrace these lower numbers. They are WONDERFUL!!!

:-D

Great job with Beast!!!

49 isn't much different than the 50's with meter variance....

But it is perfectly normal...
There are many cats who sit in those nice lower numbers all on their own.

That may be what Beast normally was .... back before he became a diabetic.

Some kitties run in lower numbers and some in higher. It's the same with nondiabetic cats. As long as Beast is a happy kitty, all is good.

Thank you all!! I just need to relax and stop looking for trouble

So how long does it take until you have to force yourself NOT to open up a can of gravy when you see a 49?

congrats..... :-D
