Question on freeze dried chicken treats

Are you supposed to wet the treat? The chunks are pretty big so I tear them up but she has kinda gagged on them? Am I supposed to rehydrate before given to her? Thanks

Hi. Nope you don't need to wet them. I like them big because I can throw them to Merlin. If they are too big breaking them is fine.

I usually just crush test them a little tiny bit to make sure they will break up easily once the cat is biting them. Every once in awhile I find a piece that is hard and I am not able to break it up easily by crushing it with my fingers. I always worry my cat will then swallow that whole hard piece, so I work extra hard to break those extra hard pieces up into bits.

We've used an old $10 coffee bean grinder. Obviously be careful not to turn it into baby mush.

I buy the Orijen brand freeze dried treats and they're perfect in size and softness.

I buy the same product but for DOGS, less then half the price but they are big chunks so I cut them up into edible small chunks for my Guys........when the leftover power or small stuff is in the bag I wet it down a bit (paste like) and mix it with their wet food. My Guys love these chicken treat and that's all they get - no commercial brands with all the junk in them.

When I would give them to Dusty he would become terribly constipated, be careful with that. Make sure he gets plenty of other fluids through wet food or water bowl.
