GM everyone. I am curious. Lilo was diagnosed with CHF because I could not get her BGs to the nice curve the past week that she used to have, before last week nadir in the 100s AMPS & PMPS around 400s. Her past week BG readings start at 400s and lows are 300s. I was wondering if any parents whose babies have both conditions experience the same thing. I am trying to prepare for when she comes back from ICU to better manage both her conditions. Thank you for reading.

Did you find out the results of the ultrasound?

Regarding the HF, you're going to need to see how Lilo responds to medications. I have no doubt that if she was volume overloaded, she didn't feel good especially if she was having trouble breathing. Once the HF has stabilized and she feels better, hopefully the BG numbers will be better. The other issue is whether there's anything going on based on the ultrasound.

Thank you. Just spoke to the vet. The medications are working and she is fairly stable with lower rate of breathing today. They are doing the ultrasound right now and I will hear later this afternoon. They are going to do bloodwork again to check her kidney values. It was fine and they want to make sure that has not changed from yesterday since she is on diuretics to make sure the dosage etc are still correct. The vet said she is even more alert today and engaging. Even purred at them and walked up to them. She is eating some of the treats I brought her. He BGs did come down. Highs are 300s and lows are around the mid 100s. Fingers crossed for the ultrasound

Neko had temporary higher numbers when she had fluids in her lungs, but went back to mostly normal when things got sorted. The first time she also got a small cell lymphoma diagnosis at the same time, so there were lots of meds, vet visits, and poking involved. By "temporary higher numbers" I mean a couple of numbers over 300, at least one associated with a vet visit. Her usual numbers at the time ranged from 70's to low 200's, and she got back there within a couple days. I found it took a few days for her to process and learn to work with the new meds, which could mean temporary slightly higher numbers. She also had kidney disease so didn't get diuretics until much later.
