Hello,

I need to board Priss soon and I found a place that will board her in isolation from other cats without current vaccine records. My concern is she could have a bad reaction to the vaccine and also I don't have a full 2 weeks for them to go into effect. Her last rabies was 13 months ago (purevax) but I don't have any record of the FCRP. My concern is she could catch distemper at the boarding facility, has anyone's diabetic/pancreatitis cat had a bad reaction to the distemper shot? She is indoor only.

Thank you,

Elizabeth

Most cats do OK with vaccines. Out of over 20 in my life, only 1 ever had a reaction - so my rate of cats who react is < 5%.

Are you concerned because of a prior bad reaction? If yes, a vet may have some strategies for working around that, depending on what happened previously.

Thanks for the advice I ended up getting the same rabies renewed as I knew she had no issues with it. The boarding place will administer an FCVRP on checkin, but I think it's the advungated type. I read the catinfo on vaccines and was a little worried. This is the first time someone else will care for her and I didn't want her to stop eating and get DKA at the boarding place.
