Good morning! I was just wondering about stress and BG levels. Rupert starts howling about 1/2 hour or more before his feeding times, especially at AMPS and PMPS. He tests high often at those times, could it be his stress causing some of the high numbers? I am trying to figure out why he gets so high at these times. Maybe the insulin isn't lasting long enough (why I am considering switching to Lantus)? I am picking your brains here! :p

It might be, but not likely. He could get a small snack 2 hours before the preshot - this is easy with a feeder. Have you thought about dividing up his food into mini meals spread out over the day and night? Some people do that. I would guess he is just wanting to eat before Mom is ready to feed him and thinking he can push the envelope. Mini meals might make this worse. A feeder would make it possible to feed him half his meal 2 hours early and then half after the shot? There are lots of ways to switch things around - you just don't want it to make him more demanding......

So we are discussing a insulin change and he gives you a lovely yellow amps. Hope the day brings good things.

If the insulin isn't lasting long enough overall, you usually see a rise by +8. I don't see that often. He seems to jump at the end - that can meal the dose needs to increase or a bounce. Today your dose looks nice.

Yep, he had a nice yellow this AMPS, just to confuse me even more! lol I started with smaller feedings and he was worse, like he was never "full". I could try the half meal 2 hrs early or two big meals at amps and pmps. I tried that once and he threw up, so I got scared. I am not sure anything would stop the howling about his food, he was very demanding even before diabetes. It is getting easier (most times) to tune him out, but sure makes watching tv a challenge! :cat:  I was just trying to figure out his high numbers that seem to come out of nowhere, guess I need those patient pants on again. Thanks again for your help, Sue! :bighug:
