jt and trouble (GA)

I'm finding it rather difficult to cut a small pill into eights. Does anyone know what would happen if Waldo got a little more than an 1/8 in one dose? Hubby could only find
20 mg pills so I have to cut into eights. Some doses seem too small some too big...:/

thanks for any help offered,
jeanne

how often are you giving it? once or twice a day?
i wouldn't worry too much. just if i gave a little more one time i'd probably use a smaller pill portion the next time.

Thanks so much Chris for your quick response. I was told twice a day and that is what I was trying to do. If it seemed too big, the next dose, I tried to make smaller.
thanks again,
j.

Do you have a pill crusher? If so, crush the pill as throughly as you can and dissolve in 80 units of warm water from an insulin syringe. Now, draw up 10 units as a dose. Use a NEEDLELESS syringe to squirt in mouth.

I wouldn't worry about an overdose. Minou, my civie, was prescribed 5 mg (1/2 Pepcid regular) bid when she was being treated for helicobacter. So, a little higher dose won't hurt in the short term.

the recall by Johnson and Johnson (McNeil) on 10mg Pepcid is making that dose VERY hard to find in the generic form. I had to try 5 different places to find a generic 10mg in stock.

NOTE: The recall is not on a consumer level. Only wholesaler and retailers. Apparently there is a problem with the packaging.
