One of my civies, Mischief, has not been eating well for the past couple of days. I have given her 1/4 Pepcid in the morning and that seems to help. But I cannot remember if the dose is once a day or if I can give it to her in the evening also.

I actually do 1/2 tablet 20 minutes before the morning meal and the same 20 minutes before the evening meal.

1/2 of a 10 mg tab twice a day is on the high side and I would not give that much.
Many give 1/4 of a 10 mg tab one or twice a day.
Note that pepcid (generic is just) Famotidine comes in both 10 mg and 20 mg (extra strength)

Oh OOOOPS - Larry's right. I do cut the tablet into fourths - so the dosage I give is a fourth of a tab before each meal.

If a cat gets the right dose of Pepcid, can it eliminate the need to give anti-nausea medications?

Also, is it safe to give famotidine on an indefinite basis, or does it lead to a greater likelihood of developing food allergies (esp. if the cat may have undiagnosed IBD)?
