Hello!
I have a question regarding the control solution that I have to do each time I open a new batch of test strips.
What does it mean?

I opened today a new batch and controlled a strip: it was out of the range of the solution (102 to 138, the strip read 139). I repeated the control with a new strip and it read 115.

What does it mean?
Was the first strip bad or is the entire batch bad?
If the first one is bad, then when we do test our cats' BG, how can we trust that all readings are accurate?
If the entire batch is bad, is there a chance that I could get a refund?

Many many thanks for any advice!
Aida PMPS was 99, and I keep wondering if it's an accurate reading of her true BG or not!

To be transparent, I don't think I ever ran a control test on my meter/strips! I don't know of very many human diabetics who run control tests.

There is always a possibility that a strip or a test is "bad." Whenever I got a test that seemed out of sync with my cat's numbers for the day, I would re-test. It sounds like you did the same thing and the numbers were more in line. The other factor to consider even with a control solution is that there is some amount of allowable variance due to both the meter and the strips. The variance may be why you got the 139. You can always call the meter/strip company and ask about the reliability of the control solution and if you should be concerned.

Oh really? I thought it was necessary to make sure that the batch is in line with the meter's parameters!
I'll call them on Monday.
Thanks!
