Question about Nadir

When they nadir later in the cycle, do they still drop quickly? Or is it more slower than if they nadir early in the cycle?

Every cat is different. Some cats nadir later than others and some insulins such as levemir tend to have a later onset and nadir.
I think if a cat nadirs later in the cycle (not talking about levemir here) they are tending to have longer duration of the insulin in the cycle more than a more sudden drop late in the cycle, if that makes sense. But remember, cats love to make liars out of us :joyful:

"nadir" is the lowest point of the cycle, no matter when it happens. Once they hit the nadir, they start going up....otherwise it's not the nadir

Taz usually nadirs around +3. Today he was lower at his +8 than at his +4. I was just curious if we have to be on the lookout for a quick drop later in the cycle like we do if he doesn't go up for his +1/+2. I hope that makes sense.

You planning on doing a curve soon? (testing every 2 hours for 12 hours or every 3 hours for 18 hours)

Looks like he may need a nudge up to 2.25 but he's making nice progress!

I'll be doing a curve on Saturday. He's been bouncing a lot, so I introduced MC this week. Trying to get him used to it before doing the curve. :)

I'm not sure why you want to add MC as a means of dealing with bouncing. Bounces are a normal phenomenon. Frankly, Taz isn't very bouncy!

Have you given any thought to posting on the Lantus board?

Hi, I'm an active poster over at the Lantus board. I thought that general questions that weren't related to insulin were supposed to be posted on this board. I'm sorry if I misunderstood and posted on the wrong board.

I had 3 members suggest giving MC at his +1 to help slow his drop.
