I checked Missy this morning and she was at 101, so I did not inject her. I didn't test her during the day because she was outside hunting the dreaded dragonfly ;-) She seemed ok all day...didn't notice anything amiss. But tonight, I let them stay out a little later than normal (got busy with something) and when I called them in, she didn't show up....and usually she beats her brother because she loves her treats. So, I go hunting for her and it is now getting quite dark and she is not coming to my calls. We have approx 1/2 acre fenced with chain link, and since she is rather hefty, I had no fear that she wasn't in the yard. I FINALLY found her under a rhododendron. She seemed ok, but didn't want to come in. I grabbed her and brought her in and since that behavior is not "normal" I checked her BG. It was at 456!!!!!
Should I inject her now, 2 hours before her schedule....or just wait and do her shot at normal time? She has not been that high, ever, since I have been testing her. She was around there at the emergency vet when she was diagnosed and had a UTI, but not ever since then. Why the wacky readings?? Has anyone else experienced this? confused_cat
Thanks

Since you are using Lantus, and it is very dependent on a 12/12 schedule, I would wait until normal shot time in case you need to give her insulin tomorrow too.
It could be that either the morning reading was wrong, or this one was (meter error or something). I'd test her again in an hour and then again at PMPS.

Thanks! I know being high isn't as bad (or life-threatening) as being low, but it really threw me for a loop. I haven't ever had that happen. It it even stranger, since she hasn't eaten for probably 3-4 hours. Maybe dragonflies are really high in carbs? confused_cat I hope it was a bad reading. I will check her in a bit and do her shot as scheduled. I appreciate the response.......
