I just read something for the first time that I had never heard of regarding the " repackaging" of insulin that you buy from the vet.i purchase my prozinc from the vet and wondered if they are allowed to do such a thing.Do they get a large container of it and fill bottles themselves? And what about the integrity of it at that point? I kind of wondered as it doesn't seem I'm seeing much of a drop in numbers yet,but it has only been a week at 1 unit twice daily. I also noticed that the box it came in was not sealed and asked a pharmacist about theirs and was told that their boxes are all sealed.Sorry for the cross post..have to learn my way around.a

I have not heard of that happening with ProZinc, Joyce. I think the best thing to do is come right out and ask your vet. I would think it would be most important that the bottle would have a new seal. The box could be opened without hurting the insulin. No, they are not allowed to alter the insulin they get from the manufacturer and if they did, they need to give you a new, sealed bottle.

Thanks Sue,trouble is I have only gone there 2 times and when I took whitey in for his last appointment, when he got diagnosed, they did not give me a good feeling and I did not agree with their methods.I don't mind the vet,a nice enough fellow fresh out of school though, but I had looked up info on them that evening and read such awful things about them, that I want to find new vet. This has caused me to lose " faith " in them. when vet and I discussed putting him on prozinc over phone he said he would order me some that would come in several days, well I called right back next morning to see if they had gotten my message and they had a bottle for me already.Made me feel like I was getting old supply or something.Just sayin.

The insulin seems to be working, otherwise you wouldn't be getting drops like you are. As I said on Health, I think it's probably time for an increase.

You might post on Health and ask if anyone knows a FD friendly vet in your area?

Oh good, thanks for info. Its hard when you don't know who to entrust your kitties to.I had a wonderful vet for many years and he died a little while back.his prices were fantastic,I trusted him.everybody loved him!Well I had just been using a traveling vet for a once or twice a year visit, but he said he does not handle diabetics..really nice guy though and I don't have to traumatized the cats.
