So what does everyone keep in their hypo emergency kit as far as a high carb "wet" cat food? I am not sure what wet cat food has high carbs in order to combat a hypo emergency. So looking to see what others keep on hand. Does anyone know of a high carb pate as well.

Friskiest canned food witt gravy like shreds, bits and Gravy Lovers are also good choices. Even dry treats like Temptations are good. Sometimes they may be more tempting to your cat.

Yes we have Temptations on hand. I was not sure which canned food had the most carbs since they say wet food with high carbs is better than dry food with carbs. The effects of eating a dry high carb food take longer to kick in since it takes longer for a cat to digest the dry food therefore wanted to make sure to have a supply of high carb wet in her emergency box.

All these things to think about when you need to be prepared for an emergency. Before it was just making sure the supplies in the first aid kit were stocked and replacing that might be ready to expire. Now we have to add to the mix things like keeping her insulin cold during a power outage, which we are still figuring out, to having an emergency box ready for a diabetic emergency. One day I hope that things will run smoothly and not stress me anymore.

High carb canned food is great to have on hand. I would always make sure I had corn syrup (e.g., Karo) or honey in the house in case I needed a big gun to get Gabby's numbers up. I would simply add a couple of drops to her regular canned food.

I suggested dry food or treats because sometimes that may be all the cat may be willing to eat. High carb canned food would definitely be my first choice.

Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Gourmet Beef Feast in Gravy 20% High Carbs

Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Gourmet Chicken Feast in Gravy 15% Med Carbs

Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Turkey Feast in Gravy 15% Med Carbs

Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Chicken and Beef in Gravy 15% Med Carbs

Good idea to mark the cans with magic marker how many carbs

Or any on the food chart. Doesn't have to be Fancy Feast just an example about the med and high carb foods

Between 11% and 17% is medium carbs.

18% and over is high carb.

Take a look at the food chart that Virginie gave you above and pick any of the ones that are the percentages I gave you :cat:
