Q! 5/5 Leo AMPS 398 +5 272 PMPS 490 Bouncing Still?

Hi All,

So just talked to my parents, Leo is at an all time high tonight :o :shock: :cry:

Is this still some bouncing we are seeing after the greens from May 2nd? I hope it is, cause we have never seen him this high.....and i'm worried and so is my dad, he said that they had left the house for a bit and left some food out and when they came back it was shot time and Leo just sniffed the food and walked away, so he figures Leo was chowing down because the food was all gone. It's hard to tell tho, they do have 2 cats other than Leo, but he bullies the other cats when it comes to chow time.

My dad figures eating grass brings his numbers up.....this isn't possible is it? He said Leo had been eating major grass all day, i told him i didn't think it brought numbers up but told him i would ask.
 
I want to say that I'm not a FD expert, first off. But, grass is a leafy plant and leafy plants are carbs. If Leo had a big enough 'salad', his #s could go up from it. I'd wait a cycle and see what he does. The Lantus might be enough to straighten him out.
 
You know Bev, i didn't even think of it that way....grass as being a leafy carb rich salad. He has been eating "salad" for the last few days according to my parents, nothing out of the ordinary tho Leo has always been a fan of grass.
 
Tracy...it can take 72 hours or six cycles to clear a bounce. Looks like this is your sixth cycle so I'd hold on tonight and then see what tomorrow brings.
 
If it's any consolation, Champ is right up there with Leo. I wish I could talk to your dad and tell him not to worry. Yes, it does scare me a little, but I'll that this too shall pass. Just a suggestion, but you might suggest to your dad (and you too!) not to feed Leo after his nadir, whether this is at +4 or +6, etc. I only give Champ chicken breast after +6 because it satisfies his hunger, but it's 100% protein and doesn't affect his numbers to any degree. I do give him too much chicken, though, so I'm making myself only give him like 0.5 oz of cut up pieces (it's about 6 small pieces) and I only give it to him when I do the pokes. This may work for Leo, too.
 
Ok i guess we have no choice but to hold and see what tomorrow brings. We (grandpa and I) were just worried because its such an ugly high number, one we've never seen from him before....even when he was dx at the vet he wasn't this high.

So how long after a bounce i can give Leo a dosecrease? If he needs it.

And Patty....omg i would be risking getting my eyes scratched out if i took Leo's food away at +6!!! Usually i'll take his food away at +8,and boy oh boy do i ever hear complaints about it, but i'm pretty sure my dad feeds him right up till shot time, he's a sucker for Leo and Leo knows how to work my dad into feeling sorry for him by making him think he's starving to death. I wish i could feed Leo chicken or any kind of treat, he has never liked people food and does not like treats. I did find him some purebites beef liver treats that i give him for ear pokes, but i almost think he eats them just to make me happy, if i'm not looking he won't eat it and it will sit on the floor for days afterwards (i tried it last week).

So Champers is back up on the red floor after the pretty blues today? Damn, i thought you had turned a corner!

And.....guess what?!?!?! I'll be coming home from work tomorrow, and i can't wait to see my lil man......i missed him like crazy this week!!!
 
I bet you're so happy to get to hold and smell and kiss your little guy!!! I seriously don't know how you do it, except, of course, you do what you gotta do. I have such a hard time myself telling my hairy baby no to food, but I have to learn cuz he WILL LOSE WEIGHT, whether he likes it or not!! :lol: :lol: I think its adorable how Leo has your dad wrapped out his little paw. What til you have kids. Oh lordy... they're going to be so spoiled (but that's a good thing because it saves us mom's money cuz grandma and grandpa buy them so much!!) Have a good trip home tomorrow!! :-D
