Hi, im mom to Tweedy, 14 y.o. cat dx'd in June 2016 (8 months ago). She eats 3/4 of a can of low carb "DM" food each meal and im giving her 5 units of PZI per meal. Her blood sugars run in the 300-450 range regularly when i test before meals. Vet says fructosamine is in the "good" range so keep doing what im doing. Im thinking her PZI is not lasting her the 12 hours. How do i go about figuring out how to get her bg regulated?

The best way to build up the picture is to start a testing routine that hits key times through the day. Logging the data in the spreadsheet we use here will create a visual/numerical record. The SS is viewable by all members and it's the first thing we look at before offering advice.

Yep, if you test at home that will help us all figure out what's going on. The fructosamine only gives you an average over some time. Daily testing can help you see if she's staying high all day or going really low and bouncing, or what. :)

Do you have any midcycle numbers? Sometimes the preshot numbers can be high, because they drop low in the middle of the cycle and bounce back up. A bounce is when the levels are lower than usual and their body releases extra glucose, causing the numbers after that to "bounce" up to higher levels. As Kris said, getting some data and entering your numbers into the spreadsheet will give you and us an idea of what is really going on.
