Hi Everyone.

I just started posting. My cat, Charlie, has been OTJ since October. He was on PZI for about a month before going OTJ. Anyway, he was recently prescribed Tresaderm for ear issues and his BG numbers have gone up. I'm going to contact the vet in the morning to see if there is something different I can give him. My question is if I need to give him a little insulin to get his numbers down during this time do you think the PZI I originally got is still good. It is dated 9/20/12 and has been refrigerated. There is a layer of white sediment in the bottom of the vial, but the liquid appears clear. I don't see anything floating in the vial.

Thank you!

The only way to be sure is to give a dose and see if anything happens. I am going to guess it won't be good. That's a long time beyond the expiration date. You might post on Health and see if anyone knows a FD friendly alternative.

Thanks Sue - actually I just checked and it says to discard after 3/19/13 (I actually got it on 9/20/12) so maybe it would still be good. Thank you for suggesting I post on Health about alternatives. I have done that and have gotten some really good information. Thanks again!

Then it might be okay. I thought you meant the expiration date was September. You should be able to tell pretty quick if his bg levels react. Saw you got some great ideas on Health.

Oops - that's what happens when you only pop in occasionally. I told you to come here, but apparently you've already been here!

Glad to see you're getting good info!
