Hi
For the last few days Purrcee has been sleeping in odd places and basically hiding. Also I haven't seen him groom in a while. He has been in remission since July and his weekly tests are in the 60's. Searching the internet it says this behavior may be due to pain, fear, stress. I don't think he is fearful or stressed. I will be taking him to the vet this week but was wondering if you might have some insight into this behavior for a diabetic cat.

I gave him a little Buprenix to see if I see a change tonight.

Thanks for your help.

the only time i've had a cat hide and behave unusually like that was when i was in college and had been home visiting my parents. she kept hiding in my laundry basket in the dorm room closet. very unusual. ultimately we decided she'd gotten into mouse/rat poison that my dad had put out. fortunately it didn't kill her - she recovered completely.

is there any chance that Purrcee could've eaten something that's making him feel sick? antifreeze, plants, onions, chocolates?

i think it's smart you're taking him to the vet.

Purrcee is indoor only and couldn't get into any poisonous products or food. He is still eating good; I think he might quit eating if he had a stomach issue. Thanks for your input. I appreciate it.

mine will do that if she gets poop stuck in her fur. hides and sulks . Mine is long haired.
pain is the biggest reason.....any meatloafing too?

i would test at some odd random times...see if you are missing some "bad" numbers..... morning numbers seem to be the last ones to drop before remission trials.

Hi, Julie.

Have you noticed any changes re. litterbox or litterbox behavior? What's the quality of Purrcee's fur? Is there any itchiness. Any changes in the household? If these are all "no" answers, a trip to the vet sounds like a good idea.

I'm watching the litterbox because I noticed I didn't see him go today but he just used it and it was a normal size pee.

His fur does not look good and he is not grooming as he usually does. No itchiness that I have noticed and no changes in the household.

I test every Monday at different times but will get another test on another day.

Meatloafing...not sure. He hasn't changed the position he sleeps except that he is hiding.

I just wish they could talk!

Thanks for all the responses. Off to the vet hopefully Monday.

Sometimes, coat condition can be an indication of a fever. Getting Purrcee in to the vet sounds like a good idea. If you notice any other changes or your gut is talking to you, get him checked out at an ER.
