Hi All,

Yet another question :YMSIGH: Do people actually pull back on the syringe before injecting to see if you are hitting a blood vessel? I am really hesitant to do this so I have just been injecting without pulling back? How back is it if you inject into a vessel? Just the though of pulling back on the syringe makes me so queasy! Do you really have to do it?

Thank you,
Emily

No need to do this since we're shooting subcutaneous and not intramuscular.

It is not necessary to draw back on the syringe each time to check for blood (also called routine aspiration).

It's also "not a reliable indicator of correct needle placement" (from here).
