Prozinc ? on time between shots

I just got a new job and will be working many hours. I don't know if I will be able to give Babee her shot 12 hours apart. How far out can I go without missing a shot with Prozinc? My cat sitter is not available and I start the job on Wednesday. I had no advance notice on this job and I just found out. I don't think I will be able to get a replacement sitter with such short notice. I plan on giving her AM shot at 7am, but not sure what time I will be home for the PM shot....could be as late as 9pm or 10pm.

Babee just got over Pancreatitis so I don't want to change her routine much. Any ideas on how I should proceed?

Thanks,
Kelly & Babee

There's not much traffic over here till later in the evening. Hopefully Angela will get on & be able to help you out. You could try taking a look at her SS also.

Also Kelly, can you set up a SS?

I wonder if there is anyone near you in NJ that might be able to help out? If you feel comfortable doing so you might want to post over on health asking if there is anyone near your general area that might be able to go by to give her PM shot, or maybe they know of a pet sitter.

Hi Kelly,
short of a spreadsheet, can you just tell us what kind of numbers you've been getting on the bg tests lately, like the past few days?
We can figure this out!

First....good on getting the job!

I agree if you could post some numbers it would help us.

Prozinc is a very forgiving insulin. While you would like to shoot at 12 hour intervals...Prozinc will allow you to shoot a flexible schedule. Once you post some numbers, we will try to help you determine a reasonable dosing amount and schedule.

Kelly,
I know this starts in the AM, so it's kind of late for planning. If you happen to see this tonight, I would suggest just giving the normal dose in the morning (after testing of course), then go to work! Tomorrow when you get home, test him, and come on here and post your results. We'll go from there.
What I envision is a schedule where you are shooting not equal amounts AM and PM. I think all we will have to figure out, and his numbers will tell us this after a couple days of odd scheduled shots, is how much in the morning and how much in the evening to compensate for the more than 12 hours between shots.

Remember, the AM and PM shot will be more than 12 hours apart, but the PM and AM shots will be less than 12 hours apart. SO we'll figure out how to redistribute his overall daily intake based on that.

Don't stress too much over it right now. Go to work, knock 'em dead, and all you can do is what you are able to do. Prozinc is flexible with regard to dose amounts and timing of shots. You can do this, and we're looking forward to helping!

Hi,
My cat Henry is on a different schedule other than 12/12. He has been on a 10/14 schedule for some time because he always has much higher AMPS BG levels than PMPS levels and it was an attempt to correct that and lower his AM levels. The most important thing to remember is if you try a schedule other than 12/12 is the time period where you are shooting later than would be normal ( as in Henry's case the +14 PM dose) whatever amount you are shooting would be an INCREASE for the next dose ( at +10 as in Henry's case for AM dose), so you probably would want to decrease a little and see how your cat's levels are and then adjust up or down accordingly. Ideally, you would probably want to do this schedule change gradually, like 30 minutes earlier and later for cycles first day, then another 30 minutes earlier and later for both cycles until you get to the schedule like 10/14 or 11/13 that fits your work schedule, but when I first changed schedules for Henry we tried 11/13 and went directly from 12/12 with no bad effects.
