Prozinc bottle broke

Well,

Rupert's new bottle of ProZinc just fell out of the fridge and broke. This being a weekend and a holiday I am unable to get Rupert his insulin until Tuesday. I called the Emergency Vet. They said it's a vet only insulin and if I can't get any tomorrow from a vet that is open. I have to go in get him examined & change his insulin. Thank god he got his last dose before it broke....

When you get the insulin ask the vet for an empty prescription bottle. Keep the vial in the prescription bottle. What I used to do was wrap the vial with cotton or a paper towel to keep it snug in the bottle. Then all you have to do is open the bottle and withdrawal the insulin while leaving it in the bottle. If you drop it then the vile is cushioned and will not break.

It's ok. I've been checking his sugars every 2 hours yesterday he's stayed in the 300's. Gonna check him 4 times today. Am shot time, noon, pm shot time and bed time.
