The pharmacist at Costco tried telling me that you could NOT use a syringe with the Lantus SoloStar pens, and that I would have to purchase the needles for the pens. He then tried telling me that the insulin would become contaminated if I used a syringe with the Lantus SoloStar pens, and I asked why that would be, if you don't contaminate the insulin in a 10 ml vial? He mumbled something about preservatives...
Thank GOD for YOU ALL, because I knew better, but woe to those who don't, or aren't as strong-willed and outspoken as I am (which is both a blessing and a curse  ).
In any case, they did honor the $25 coupon, and I got Pumbaa's insulin and started him on it tonight.
I have a Wahl buzzer/hair trimmer and think I am going to shave a section of Pumbaa's flank so that I can see better during the initial days of the injections, until I get the feel of it better.
The video on how to correctly use and fill the syringes gave me a lot of confidence tonight!
Now I just want my little guy to start feeling better!
