Problem with Relion test strips

Has anyone had a problem with the Relion test strips. I tried testing this morning with 2 strips and neither one would register. There was blood on both. I have the Relion Micro and I checked Abbott and it does not look this one that was recalled. I Had to use First Touch.

You can call ReliOn, Rose, and ask. Sometimes they will send a new meter, or at least new strips. Be sure to say you are using it on your child or yourself. They, of course, do not make them for use on cats.

You've probably done these, but just in case:

Blood ON the strip, or IN the strip? It is supposed to "sip" blood into the little channel opening at the end, not wipe a drop on top of the flat surface.

Check the date on the container - they can get out of date.

Make sure you keep it tightly capped, in a not hot, nor damp location. If the storage location was hot or damp, and the cap wasn't tight, it can affect the strips.

Make sure your fingers are clean and dry before handling. It bugs me that they are produced with the test end towards the opening to pull them out, because it makes it easy to contaminate them with water, etc.

Check that the strip was fully inserted - it gives an initial beep. You must insert it before applying the blood.

working ok now. Tried it on my husband ( minus the sock) and it worked tried on Fluff and it was fine. Strip may have been dirty or lint.

regarding the relion test strips: if they are not a recall lot number and if your relions are the ultima ones.if yu test and u dont get a reading yu have 60 seconds to add more blood to the strip while its still in the meter.i called abbott regarding a different problem i was having and they ran me thru a questionnaire on the phone.that was a subject that came up and i was told to keep the strip in the meter and to add more blood within 60 seconds and it will give a reading.i have never heard of this before and ive been around alot of meters due to my work. but it does work

If you use Vaseline on the ear to help the blood bead-up, you have to make sure you do not get the Vaseline on the strip where the strip sips. It will prevent the blood from getting into the strip and the meter working.
