ProbioticSmart NO LONGER good source of Azodyl, Probiocin!

I've recommended ProbioticSmart as the best source of Azodyl and Probiocin several times on this board. Their orders have always arrived within two days - last time the cold pack was still cool to the touch in hot weather.

Now they have switched from USPS Priority Mail (free with $50 order) to a cheapie carrier called DHL Global. It's Saturday today, and the order of Azodyl and Probiocin that was mailed on Monday has just made it to St. Paul, MN after being routed through Des Plaines, IL - far out of the way for a order being sent from Wisconsin to North Dakota. (It should only have to go across Minnesota to get here.) Since "DHL Global" has finally handed it over to the USPS, it might be here on Monday - at least eight days in transit, including the day it was mailed and the day it arrives, or a week not counting them. This is not acceptable - the Azodyl and probably the Probiocin will be no good.

This is a company that used to hold orders received on Thursday or later so the Azodyl wouldn't be stuck in the post office over the weekend. My current order was sent on Monday and is still transit the next weekend! That's a huge change from "very responsible" to "very irresponsible." I wonder if the company has a new owner who will ruin an $80 order to save a couple of dollars on postage.

The woman at the Post Office today agreed completely that I should refuse this package and insist that they re-send it by USPS only. There was no warning that free shipping, which has always taken two days, would now take more than a week, or I would have either paid more for shipping or found a different source. They offer more cold packs for a higher price, but their little cold packs are the size or your hand, and five pounds of cold pack wouldn't have lasted this long. Their orders arrived well in the past because of speed!! If Ragnar takes this dead Azodyl for a month, his kidneys will be without support, and I can't do that - he's priceless. (It's bad enough now - his coat is rough from not having had it for a few days due to this delay.)

On the plus side, Hocks has greatly improved its service. The syringes I ordered at the end of August were out of stock (of course - it's still Hocks), but they would have sent a more expensive brand without charging extra except that it was out of stock too. When they got GNP brand in stock in 30 gauge rather than the 31 I ordered, they asked me first - then overnighted it. I only had to re-use one syringe.

So I am going to keep ordering from Hocks (one member of this board sends her order when she starts her last box of 100, and it seems like a good idea), but look for another source of Azodyl unless ProbioticSmart stops sending orders by snail and goes back to USPS - period. If they do, I will let you know it's safe to order from them again. I hope no one else got caught as I did, because of my recommendation.

ProbioticSmart is trying - sort of...

An update. ProbioticSmart must have been inundated by complaints from customers about the ultra-slow carrier, DHL, that they are using for products like Azodyl and Probiocin. They did their best to make it right: they are sending a replacement for the Azodyl in my order by USPS Priority and also refunded the Azodyl to PayPal and gave me credit for it on their website. They said the Probiocin will be OK to use, though I am skeptical - it was on the way for a very hot week.

Unfortunately, they are keeping this ultra-slow shipper for their "free shipping for orders over $50," which is not smart when they sell probiotics! If you order from them, you should upgrade ths shipping, as they advised me to do, and also call them first to be sure you can get USPS 2-day, not UPS 3-day shipping. Their default "upgraded" shipping is UPS 3-day.

All in all, I am going to look around for another source - it's easier. But I might stay with them, upgrade the shipping, and request USPS, if I can't find a better one. The lady I talk to and email is very nice, and by the time I send my next order (I order regularly from them every two months), the weather will be cold. Does anyone know if Azodyl and Probiocin are harmed by freezing?

You won't get the ultra-slow shipper if you live in Wisconsin, Minnesota, or Illinois. They use a different shipper in those state, "Spee-dee," though I don't know how speedy it is. It might be best to order something other than Azodyl the first time, if you live in one of those states, to find out - and let the others on this board know.
