I was at Safeway today and noticed a very large can of cat food (22 oz.). Had to check it out. It's Safeway's brand from what little I can tell. Came home and calculated carbs which are 9-10. Has anyone heard of or used this cat food? Couldn't find much info on the web about it but price was right, $1.19 I think for a 22 oz. can, & carbs were ok. Any info would be great as I'm pretty new at all of this. Currently Sam Siam is on Friskies.

Thanks!!

I found a list of the various canned food for this brand that includes the ingredients: http://www.directionsforme.org/index.php/directions/info/CATFDPL/00021130413782/P260 There are a few pages for this brand.

The non-gravy varieties look ok. As a general rule, read the ingredient list and avoid foods that contain sources of carbs and sugars such as rice, potatos, honey, starch, etc. Gravy and sauce based foods are often too high in carbs so avoid these. They are great to use if your cat becomes hypo, though, so keep a few cans around. Seafood is generally low in carbs but shouldn't be fed all the time. Some types of seafood can contain mercury and some cats get addicted to eating seafood. Feed seafood as a once in awhile treat or meal.
