Angel's mommie

Hi everyone! My 14 year old Angel kitty needs two shots of lantus a day. He is a rescue and very skittish, and will promptly hide in impossible places the second a stranger enters the house, although he is not aggressive once caught. I need to go to India to be with my mom for 2 weeks, and am guessing he'd be less stressed if I got a large crate (48 inch) and kept him in it in the room in which he likes to hang out, and had a vet tech come home twice a day to give him shots and take care of food, litter etc (and also feed etc our two civvies) -- as opposed to boarding him at the vets....right? At least he'll be in a familiar place with the other two cats around.

Or is there a chance he'd be EVEN more stressed to be at home but confined in a weird way?

Any of you chosen to keep your skittish cats confined at home while on vacation for purposes of someone being able to give them their meds? Thank you :).

How much do vet techs charge for home visits to give insulin, please? Also food, litter, water. Shots twice a day for two weeks.

Can you keep him in a room instead of a large crate? Maybe the bathroom? My cat would go insane in a crate like that. Plus with a litter box and food and water, there won't be much room.

Well, the room is the one he hangs out in :). Plus the other two will be with him (outside the crate). Plus it'll be easier for the vet tech to grab him in the crate. We only have one very tiny bathroom, and every instinct tells me the crate would be the best place IN the house. The question is, crate or boarding?

My vet tech cat sitter charged $50 a day to come in, blood check, inject the insulin and give his other medication. My husband was home to feed and do the LB duties.

I was gone for 3 weeks....

You're his Mom, you know him best.
