I just picked up the Relion Prime for using on Ernie, as well as 30GA lancets.
I must say the first poke was alot easier than I expected. I warmed the ear up, poked, dipped the strip & then held the ear & put Neosporin First Aid on it. The reading was 343, so not terrible for a not yet regulated cat & almost 11 hours after his AM dose.
I also poked myself & made my wife poke her finger, so that we knew how it would feel to him!
My question is, should the AM & PM preshot checks be done before or after he eats? I don't push the meds until I know he eat & it stays down. But I wasn't sure on the expected timing of checking the pre shot.
So which is better: BG check > Food > Wait 15 minutes > Dose or Food > BG check > Wait 15 > Dose
Also I know about the 20% range on meter accuracy. But are the numbers from the Prime going to be any different because it is being used on a cat?
Ernie says thank you for helping me! (As he gives mama that look of "I am trying to be a cat & nap, why are you taking pictures again!)
